Manitoba Hydro employees raise a roof on their vacation day for Habitat for Humanity

Spearheaded by Manitoba Hydro’s Professional Engineers Association (MHPEA), a group of our engineers from around the corporation recently took a vacation day to join forces on a team build for Habitat for Humanity.

“MHPEA started a subcommittee to find opportunities for our members to get involved together in some good community activities,” said Vincent Ho, one of Manitoba Hydro’s electrical engineers. “Habitat for Humanity was an outdoor event so that was a good volunteer option, especially during the pandemic.”

Along with giving their volunteer time, the group raised $7,685 CAD for building supplies and skilled labour.

“Not only did we achieve something positive, but it was also a fun opportunity for engineers from around Manitoba Hydro to meet and work on a meaningful project together,” Ho said.

Report shows deep commitment to our communities

The Habitat build is just one of many stories showing the commitment and contributions made by Manitoba Hydro’s employees to the communities where they live and work.

We featured some of these stories in our second annual Corporate Social Responsibility Report, which shares how we’re carrying out our operations to minimize environmental and social impacts and maximize benefits to our customers and communities we serve.
